App Privacy Policy
MevaSearch for Android (com.mevasearch.app)
Version: 1.0 · Date: 07.10.2026
In short: the app is a window onto MevaSearch. The app itself does not collect, store on our servers or share any personal data. It has no ads, no advertising ID, no analytics and no tracking libraries. Your widget settings stay on your phone. What happens when you search on MevaSearch is described in the MevaSearch Privacy Policy, which applies in the app exactly as on the website.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of personal data is Igor Oprządek, Bągart 14A, Poland, e-mail: privacy[at]weborbiton.com — the same controller as for the MevaSearch service. No Data Protection Officer has been appointed.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers the MevaSearch app for Android (package com.mevasearch.app) and the download
page app.mevasearch.com. It describes only what the app adds on your device.
The app shows the MevaSearch service (mevasearch.com) in a built-in browser view. Your account, searches, AI features, photo search, Kids Mode and payments are handled by the service and described in the MevaSearch Privacy Policy. If something is not described here, that policy applies.
3. What the app does on your device
Showing MevaSearch
- The app opens MevaSearch pages in Android System WebView, the browser engine built into Android. Only mevasearch.com pages open inside the app.
- The app adds
MevaSearchMobile/and its version number (for exampleMevaSearchMobile/1.0.0) to the browser identification it sends. MevaSearch uses this only to show the app version of its pages (for example without links to purchases). It does not identify you. - Like a browser, the app keeps your MevaSearch login cookie and your MevaSearch interface preferences (local storage) in the app's private storage on your phone, as described in Section 10 of the MevaSearch Privacy Policy. Other apps cannot read them.
- This data is not included in Android cloud backups: the app turns Android's automatic backup off.
Links to other websites
Search results and other external links open outside MevaSearch: in an in-app browser tab (Custom Tabs, run by your default browser) or, for results you open "in a new tab", in your default browser or the app that handles the link (for example YouTube). From then on, that website's or app's privacy policy applies. MevaSearch does not see what you do there.
Home-screen widget
- The widget's settings (style, colours, custom colour, transparency and which buttons are shown) are saved only on your phone, separately for each widget you add. They are deleted when you remove the widget or uninstall the app.
- The widget does not connect to the internet and does not show any personal data. Tapping it opens MevaSearch in the app (search, voice search, photo search or MevaSearch AI).
- To redraw the widget, for example after your phone restarts, the app uses WorkManager, a standard Android component. This is why Android lists the "run at startup", "run foreground service" and "prevent phone from sleeping" permissions (Section 4). They are used only for the widget and never to collect data.
Searching from other apps and the digital assistant
You can choose MevaSearch for "web search", select text in any app and pick MevaSearch from the menu, or set MevaSearch as your digital assistant app. In each case:
- the app receives only the text you chose to search (for the assistant: no text at all — it simply opens the MevaSearch search screen);
- the text is opened as a normal MevaSearch search, handled under the MevaSearch Privacy Policy (searches are not stored and not linked to your account);
- the app does not read your screen, your clipboard, your notifications or the content of other apps, and it does not listen in the background.
4. Permissions
Android shows these permissions on the app's page in Settings. Camera and microphone are asked for only when you first use the feature that needs them, and you can withdraw them at any time in Settings → Apps → MevaSearch → Permissions. The others are granted automatically by Android.
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Internet; view network and Wi-Fi connections | Loading MevaSearch and checking whether you are online, so the app can show its offline screen. |
| Camera | Only when you choose to take a picture for photo search. The photo is handled as described in Section 4 of the MevaSearch Privacy Policy (Photo Search Data). The app does not keep photos. |
| Microphone; change audio settings | Only while you use voice search. Speech is recognised by the speech recognition built into your phone's browser engine (on most phones provided by Google, under its own terms); MevaSearch receives only the recognised text as your search. The app does not record or store audio. |
| Control vibration | Short haptic feedback when you tap some buttons. You can turn it off in MevaSearch settings. |
| Run at startup; run foreground service; prevent phone from sleeping | Added by Android's WorkManager component, used to redraw the home-screen widget (Section 3). |
The app does not ask for your location, contacts, calendar, phone, SMS, call logs, photos and files, accounts on the device, or the advertising ID.
5. What the app does not do
- No advertising, no advertising ID and no ad libraries.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking libraries in the app. The app is built with open-source components (React Native, Expo, react-native-webview, react-native-android-widget) that do not send your data to their authors.
- No collection of data in the background, no profiling, no sale or sharing of data.
6. Summary for app stores (data safety)
- Data collected by the app itself: none. Account, search and photo-search data are processed by the MevaSearch service as described in its Privacy Policy, only when you use those features.
- Data shared with third parties by the app: none.
- Encryption in transit: yes — the app connects to MevaSearch only over HTTPS.
- Deletion: uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on your phone. You can delete your MevaSearch account at any time at mevasearch.com/account/remove or by e-mail to privacy[at]weborbiton.com.
7. The download page (app.mevasearch.com)
- Our server keeps technical logs with your IP address, only for security and operation, for up to 30 days (as in Section 7 of the MevaSearch Privacy Policy).
- If you choose a language on the page, it is saved in the
meva_appLanguagecookie on app.mevasearch.com for up to 12 months. The page uses no other cookies, no analytics and no tracking. - The app file is published together with its SHA-256 checksum, so you can check that it has not been changed.
8. Children
MevaSearch, including the app, is intended for adults. Minors may use it only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who holds the account, for example with Kids Mode. See Section 9 of the MevaSearch Privacy Policy.
9. Your rights and legal basis
The app does not process personal data on our servers beyond what the MevaSearch service does. For that processing, the legal bases and your rights (access, rectification, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent and the right to complain to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, PUODO) are set out in Sections 6 and 12 of the MevaSearch Privacy Policy. Contact: privacy[at]weborbiton.com.
10. Changes
If a new version of the app changes how it handles data or which permissions it uses, we will update this policy before publishing that version and change the version number and date above. Significant changes affecting account holders are also announced by e-mail.
